Additional Information: "Hockney's Alphabet" was edited by Stephen Spender and published by Faber and Faber Limited, London, England, for the Aids Crisis Trust. The book pairs written contributions corresponding to the letters A-Z and an ampersand with color lithographic illustrations by Hockney. This copy is signed on the justification page by David Hockney, Stephen Spender, and 22 contributors: Douglas Adams, Martin Amis, Julian Barnes, William Boyd, Margaret Drabble, Patrick Leigh Fermor, William Golding, Seamus Heaney, Kazuo Ishiguro, Erica Jong, Doris Lessing, Norman Mailer, Ian McEwan, Arthur Miller, Iris Murdoch, Nigel Nicolson, John Julius Norwich, Joyce Carol Oates, V.S. Pritchett, Craig Raine, Susan Sontag, and John Updike. Anthony Burgess, Ted Hughes, Paul Theroux, and Gore Vidal did not sign the edition; T.S. Eliot's contribution was published posthumously. The lot includes the original slipcase.
