Lot is comprised of the Harry Langdon photograph of Joan Rivers, signed with a personal dedication to Michaele Vollbracht, along with two letters (three total pages of correspondence) between Ms. Rivers and Mr. Vollbracht on her personal stationery, dated 7.21.1981 and 10.20.1981. The July letter refers to the photo, in which she is wearing a Vollbracht design, as the one she selects for "private" people, and that she had already given one to Ross Hunter, Rock Hudson, and Norman Lear. Provenance: The Estate of Michaele Vollbracht, Safety Harbor, Florida. Michaele Vollbracht (1947-2018) was an artist and fashion designer working both under his own name and for other designers, notably Bill Blass Limited, Geoffrey Beene and Donald Brooks. Vollbracht was the designer of Bloomingdale's famous Face Bag, and recipient of the 1980 Coty Award. His artwork has been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Smithsonian Institution and is included in many private collections, among them former President Gerald Ford, Diane von Furstenberg, Elizabeth Taylor, and Paloma Picasso. {source: Wikipedia}
