Additional Information: Keith Haring's "Best Buddies" sculpture was produced in an unnumbered edition of forty for use as centerpieces decorating the 1994 Best Buddies Ball. Best Buddies International, founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver in the late 1980s, became America's first national social and recreational program for people with intellectual disabilities. The organization has been connected to noteworthy artists since its outset, including Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg and Keith Haring, who donated his design for the logo which has been used by the organization since.
