Additional Information: Work is titled "Red Rug." Provenance: Artist | Collection of Mrs. Barbara Schlang, Palm Beach, Florida. Mrs. Schlang purchased the painting from Milton and Sally Michel Avery at their New York home during the later years of his life. She recalls that Sally Michel answered the door, and advised that Milton was not well and was resting. She went into the bedroom, selected this work, and asked "Do you like this one?" The work has remained in Mrs. Schlang's collection since. (Consignor's recollections relayed via telecom 4.4.2024)
