Additional Information: The pair of rare wing-superstructure chairs are similar to Gio Ponti's famous "Triennale" chair. The model was first illustrated in the 1948 edition of Roberto Aloi's "L'arredamento Moderno," incorrectly attributed to Gio Ponti. The 1954 edition corrects this, giving credit for the design to Orlando Orlandi. Previous examples were authenticated by architect Danilo Franco Orlandi, heir to Orlando Orlandi. The consignor describes the chairs as a collaboration between the two designers, Ponti and Orlandi. Provenance: Wannenes, 12.13.2011 auction, lots 285 and 286. Reference: Esempi Sedie Poltrone Divani, Roberto Aloi, fig. 210.
