Additional Information: Work is titled "Sea of Desire (Red)," inspired by Jeff Koons' balloon dog sculptures. The works are a collaboration between the artist and model maker Ignacio Villareal, building the models first in clay and finally in resin before they are swathed partially in hand-applied beadwork. Rick Wolfryd's "Alterations" series is a cultural commentary consisting of reconstructions of well-known pop art pieces, half clad in the intricate beadwork of the Huichol people of Mexico. Historically associated with religious significance, the practice has in time become more commercial. Provenance: Artist.
