Rosewood cabinet/server 'Luciana Com Portas' with two doors, each revealing a shelf, by Sergio Rodrigues. The piece is finished on all sides and comes with the original key. Provenance: Acquired from the original owner, Rio de Janeiro | Private Collection, Palm Beach, Florida. Reference: Sergio Rodrigues, Soraia Cals, pg. 256. Sergio Rodrigues (1927-2014), a pioneer of Brazilian Modern design who founded the company Oca in Rio de Janeiro in 1956, utilized the finest of indigenous materials and craftsmanship to create his innovative works. After architects Oscar Niemeyer and Lucio Costa populated their buildings in the new capital city of Brasilia with Rodrigues’ furniture later in that decade, international recognition followed.
