Additional Information: Serigraph depicts imagery from the 1956 movie "El Santero" ("The Witch Doctor"), one of several films produced by the Puerto Rican Division de Educacion de la Comunidad to promote local culture. (source: expodivedco.sagrado.edu/el-santero/) Handwritten dedication reads "For Magie with all my heart, your friend forever, Tefo" and "14.5.1982 Domingo Patio Desam." Provenance: Gift from Artist | Private Collection, Puerto Rico, now Central Florida. The consignor, a woman named Magdalena, operated a restaurant and bar in Puerto Rico's Historic District in the 1960's-1980's. The bar, El Patio de Sam, was a venue for local artists, where she became friends with Rafael Tufino. Magdalena introduced Tufino to her friend Rosemarie, who became Tufino's model and his wife. Rosemarie is the subject of several of the paintings in this collection, and several works are dedicated to Magdalena in the margins.
