Additional Information: Work is titled "Louis Sanders, Bell Ranch, New Mexico." Kurt Markus began his photography career in rural Montana and developed his expertise photographing cowboys, ranches and landscapes in the American West. He would later translate this expertise to fashion photography and is known for his black and white photos of Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and other high profile models. The 2016 Vanity Fair article "Fashion Photography and Kurt Markus's American West" describes Markus' transition to the fashion world: "When the magazine and fashion worlds turned their heads west to create campaigns and editorials, Markus was their guy. He understood the scorching light, deep shadows, and landscapes of the American desert, and he used this knowledge to craft his fashion photography."
